There is no better way to start of a New Year of spiritual growth than by going on a Parish Retreat. I’ve been blessed by making many over the years and now I attend every year (the format is updated each year so there is always something new). Our annual Parish Men’s Retreat at Holy Name Passionist Retreat Center has been the foundation of our active Men’s Ministry program at my parish (St. Anthony of Padua in The Woodlands). The parish has benefited greatly too, and we have men fully engaged in all our groups and ministries. If your Pastor has any doubts about supporting the Parish Men’s Retreat, they can contact our Pastor for his experience – Fr. Tom Rafferty is a big supporter and he sees first hand how well the retreat benefits the parish with activated, motivated Men!
So, I invite you to take action TODAY and register for your retreat. Go to the Holy Name website for dates and registration form (only $35 to register): http://www.passionist.org/holyname/
They have 11 more Men’s Retreats scheduled (from Jan 8 up through April 30, 2010), and we invite you to attend on your Parish’s date if possible, but you are welcome to attend whichever retreat best fits your schedule (invite a friend or two from you parish to attend with you!). If you are unsure of when to come, I invite you to the weekend of Jan 29-31 (I’ll be there myself!).
Joe McClane, from CatholicHack.com hosted the fist meeting of “The Kings” Men” on Wednesday November, 18th at the Catholic Charismatic Center. It was an outstanding get together of men who struggle with addiction to pornography.
Additional meetings are ongoing, and new men are welcome to attend any time. If you are interested in attending, contact Joe at CatholicHack@gmail.com.

Héctor Antonio Molina, Jr. is a dynamic and much sought after bilingual lay Catholic speaker and Evangelist, who, for nearly 20 years has ministered the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Catholic faith throughout the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. In June of 2007, the Most Reverend Archbishop Raymond Leo Burke appointed Héctor to serve as founding Director of the recently established Archdiocesan Office of the New Evangelization. From the heart of the Deep South, steeped in Southern Baptist tradition Michael Cumbie’s call from God to preach the Gospel came at age 14. Although a Protestant Pastor for 23 years, Michael ultimately realized that to be truly in one accord with “ancient historic” Christian practice, means to be in union with Rome, where the chair of the successor of St. Peter is located, he continued his studies and research. In 2001, Michael and his three children were received into the Catholic Church. Michael’s wife Sherry came back to the Catholic Church that day as well, after a 28-year absence. Michael Cumbie’s conversion story is entitled “No Bread on the Table, No Crumbs on the Floor” because of his great love of, and respect for the Most Holy Eucharist. Visit his website here
In 1993, Alex Jones was the pastor of a primarily African-American Pentecostal church in Detroit. His decision to research the beliefs and practices of the early Church began an eight-year spiritual journey that would lead him, his wife, and over half of his flock to conversion into the Catholic Church.
